Introducing Heilbut LLP
Most attorneys like this profession because they can do good work by staying on the well-marked trails.
Raised by parents who were true originals, I’ve come to realize that, unlike many in my field, the road less traveled is where I feel most at home.
In July, when the road I was traveling on diverged in a fork, I chose the route bending into the undergrowth.
Joined by a small and mighty team, we’ve been quietly walking this branching path for a few months now. Today, we’re proud to announce we’re officially putting our firm — Heilbut LLP — on the map.
For, with, and by independent spirits
Danielle, Maggie, Olivia, Pam, Saba, and I have been diligently staking out the contours of this new intellectual property and corporate law firm, one that strategically challenges conventional wisdom and keeps moving forward.
Heilbut LLP’s compass points are informed by the values of cooperation and community instilled in me by my parents. These values are the firm’s magnetic north.
Our firm is a practice centered around care, curiosity, candor, and courage, working in service of clients who are themselves breaking new ground.
Building something better — together
Even the most independent of spirits need trusted advisors; people who know which thickets are worth slashing and which are best circumnavigated.
We’re here to listen and identify what you need so we can deliver personalized legal services that help you achieve your goals.
We believe working with compassionate, caring people makes handling challenges, difficult decisions, and hard conversations easier.
We don’t think it’s revolutionary for a law firm to say it cares about you. We do think it’s radical — at least in our line of work — to actually take care of you.
When we say we’re building something better together, this is exactly what we mean. We’re here to understand, nurture, and guard your priorities so you can achieve your goals.
Business law — not corporate law
In our experience, “corporate law” doesn’t line up with what independent spirits are looking for when seeking counsel.
That’s why we call our specialty business law. As a practice area, business law folds in corporate, intellectual property, transactional, and other specialized guidance a client needs in a way that matches the personality, scale, and priorities of their business.
We want to join forces with entrepreneurs and enterprises; serious daydreamers and dedicated after-the-kids-are-asleep doers. These are some of the kinds of clients and challenges business law covers:
- Global companies, local businesses, and creators wrangling complex intellectual property and trademark portfolios
- Dynamic entrepreneurs driving the next wave of mold-breaking businesses and those who fund them; we’re most amped about working with female-founded businesses and have a soft spot for moms kicking serious butt
- Writers, photographers, athletes, thinkers, and creators who need help negotiating contracts that let them own the intellectual property they generate and get the credit and compensation they deserve
- Successful professionals or community leaders like Esther Perel or Priya Parker who are looking to branch out and grow into a team with their next pivot
What’s most thrilling to us about handling business law for independent spirits are the exponential possibilities that open up through our collaboration. Because when clients trust us to take care of their priorities, they’re free to focus on what they do best. And that makes all the difference.
